The Zoo Story is a one-act play by the American playwright Edward Albee. The play deals with themes of isolation, loneliness and social inequality. To illustrate this disparity and show the clash of these two worlds, the red couch was a fundamental element.

The couch hanging from the roof moves throughout the play, conveying a sense of relaxation at first, but then also of instability and risk as the tension between the two characters grows.

The original story takes place in Central Park in New York, but for this occasion I decided to create a more abstract space where the main object is a red couch. Red as a symbol of nobility and opulence, and a couch as an indication of comfort and well-being, pointing it out, even more, as a symbol of dispute.

The four screens in the background projected the image of a giant air bubble slowly flying into the sky. With the director's help, we wanted to show an abstract element that would help viewers follow the storyline. A soap bubble was a perfect element because of its delicacy, which always threatens to burst at the slightest movement
